Though we'll sometimes pop some varieties of tradescantia into our summer hanging baskets, we have no expectation that they'll survive the winter outdoors. Along comes 'Godzilla,' a slightly larger tradescantia with thick, dark purple foliage, and this variety allegedly can handle temps down to 10 degrees. Stiff stems may reach a foot in height, while spreading two to three feet wide, perfect for hanging baskets. It can always be brought indoors when the temps cool down and enjoy life as a house plant until next spring.
