For those who seek a summer "thriller," Tibouchina may be the perfect fit! The Princess Flower conjures up images of tropical life with its large, deep purple flowers and velvety leaves, blooming all summer long when given ample sun and regular watering. In its native habitat (Brazil), it can achieve a spread of 15 feet tall and wide, but as a landscape plant is more likely to grow six to eight feet tall and wide. Our winters are too cold for Tibouchina to live outdoors year-round, but it may adjust to indoor life and life in a large container planter during the fall and winter.
