Bright red tips on green foliage of this low-growing, globe-shaped arborvitae will enliven the winter landscape.
Product Description
Product Description
For those gardeners who "don't like arborvitae," please keep an open mind when it comes to this little gem of a conifer. 'Fire Chief' globe arborvitae is exactly that - a naturally globe-shaped conifer with feathery golden foliage in the spring that turns fiery red at the tips when the temperatures drop. Slow-growing and ultimately only two feet tall and wide at the 10-year mark, 'Fire Chief' is a wonderful subject for container planters and even hanging baskets, or along sunny borders of a garden. Bonsai enthusiasts may find it a fun subject as well. This plant requires little, if any, pruning and is less likely to split as the big arborvitaes do in heavy snow or stormy weather.
