Squash 'Zucchini' 4 Inch

For those with limited space for vegetables, zucchini may not be the best choice unless one LOVES zucchini. A single plant will typically grow to two feet high and three to four feet across, usually producing enough squash for two people all summer long. Give it a sunny spot with well-draining soil, and water regularly. If bee activity is low in your yard, consider planting flowers near your vegetable garden to attract the bees - cosmos, marigolds, and bee balm are all great options. Once your plant starts to produce squash, harvest frequently (anywhere from baby size up to eight inches long) to encourage even more yield.
Zucchini can be prepared in countless ways for a variety of cuisines from appetizers to desserts, but male flowers (no bulge at the base of the flower) may also be eaten, typically stuffed, battered, and fried.  

Common Name: Summer squash, Zucchini squash

Culinary Uses: Non-fruiting flowers may be eaten (stuffed and fried) as well as the squash. Squash may be sauteed, roasted, stuffed, steamed, and pickled. Often used in baked goods and as "zoodles."

Harvest Time: Best when fruit is 6" - 8" long, usually around 50 - 60 days.

Mature Size: Best when fruit is 6" - 8" long. Harvest frequently to increase yield.
