Squash 'Patty Pan' 4 inch

Zucchini lovers with limited garden space may wish to consider growing Patty Pan squash instead. Plants three to four feet across will send up male flowers first to attract pollinators so the female blossoms will be fertilized and grow into flat, scallop-edged green fruits that gradually turn a creamy white. As with zucchini, Patty Pan squash are at their best when harvested on the smaller side, anywhere from two to five inches across. These little squash are excellent grilled, roasted, stir-fried, or eaten fresh. If some of the fruits are overlooked and allowed to grow, they can be treated as winter squash, letting the rinds harden.
