Hens and chicks are one of the mainstays of dry landscaping, thriving as a ground cover with not much water (once established) as long as they get adequate sun. We love them in container planters and hanging baskets, in combination with other succulents, or as a surprise in planters requiring a bit more water. As long as the container gets full sun and has good drainage, the hens and chicks should be happy. 'Pacific Zoftic' will vary in color from lime green to burgundy red depending upon the time of year, and the fine hairs add a fascinating texture as well.
