Sedum album 'Coral Carpet'

White stonecrop is so named not because the foliage is white but because of the plethora of star-like, white flowers that emerge in late spring to summer. These are just another feature of this ever-changing, evergreen succulent, with new foliage emerging in shades of coral, then morphing to a dark green during the summer. Cold weather brings out red tones, though extreme cold may result in slightly straggly stems and leaves. Growing only two to four inches tall, 'Coral Carpet' may spread up to 12 inches or more. For best results, plant this sedum where it will have all-day sun and excellent drainage - hanging baskets and container planters work well if the garden soil is more clay-like.
