This grass does indeed deserve a standing ovation for its upright mounding habit and lovely fall color, with red, yellow, and orange-hued blades lasting into winter.

Product Description

Commonly known as Little Bluestem, 'Standing Ovation' is more noticeable for its red tips than the blue tones at the base of the stems. Flat narrow blades of this perennial grass grow three to four feet tall and spread one to two feet wide. The red tips definitely add interest in the spring and summer, but fall colors of reds, oranges, and yellows are what make this grass a standout. Hold off shearing this grass back until late winter or early spring in order to add interest to the winter garden. Contradictory as it sounds, 'Standing Ovation' is drought tolerant once established but it can also tolerate moist soils, and handles poor soils as well.
