Salvia 'Golden Delicious' Quart

Golden Delicious' salvia may have been named as such because its foliage has the same bright green/gold color of golden delicious apples, but bruise the leaves and you get a distinct aroma of pineapple. Pineapple sage serves double duty in the summer garden, providing a vibrant chartreuse green on upright mounds, sometimes reaching three feet tall and almost as wide. Leaves can also be used in the kitchen, added fresh to salads or used to flavor beverages such as kombucha or iced tea. Bright red, tubular flowers stand out against the golden green foliage late in the summer and early fall. As with most salvias, bees and hummingbirds flock to the blooms.
