When one sees Irish Moss growing in a garden bed or trailing over the edge of a hanging basket, the temptation is strong to stroke it or step on it with bare feet. This evergreen ground cover forms a low dense mat of deep green and works well between pavers, over retaining walls, or in container planters, hanging or otherwise. Irish Moss is in fact not a moss, so it doesn't do well in overly wet locations and actually does better where it gets at least partial sun. Tiny white flowers add to its charm from spring and even into the fall. Fairy garden fans may find this Sagina the perfect "lawn" for their creations.
