You can't tell from the plant growing in a 4-inch pot, but this Shield Aralia can grow up to be a five foot tall, 2 foot wide indoor specimen. It can be a bit challenging to grow to that height, but once you find the perfect spot for this aralia, please don't move it. Sudden changes in its environment may cause those lovely leaves to drop, as will over-watering and not enough humidity. Short of buying a humidifier or misting the plant daily, an easy way to up the humidity is to place the container on a pebble-filled saucer, with water halfway up the pebbles. This keeps moisture in the air, and allows the plant's roots to stay on the drier side. While Shield Aralias do a great job of purifying the air, they will wreak havoc if ingested, so please keep little humans and pets away from the leaves.
