Though this variety has no "forks" in its leaves, it is still referred to as a Staghorn fern.
Product Description
Product Description
This particular platycerium is still commonly called a staghorn fern even though its large, heavily veined leaves do not fork at all, and instead resemble large elephant ears. The upright sterile fronds will average 18 to 24 inches in length at maturity while the fertile fronds can grow almost three feet long and up to 30" wide.
It is highly recommended that this Elephant Ear Staghorn fern be grown on a sphagnum-covered wood plaque/board for best results. Otherwise, consider growing it in long-fiber sphagnum moss as a hanging basket. Do not let it dry out and hang in a well-lit room.
