Physocarpus opulifolius 'Little Joker'

We know that some varieties of Ninebark are prone to powdery mildew, especially when watered from overhead, but 'Little Joker' has improved disease resistance while retaining all the great characteristics that make Ninebark such an attractive landscape choice. This variety is more compact than some of its cousins, forming a dense shrub of burgundy stems and foliage, about three to four feet tall and wide at maturity. Clusters of pink buds turn into showy white flowers from spring into summer, attracting bees and other pollinators. Flowers transform into showy red seed capsules in the fall when the foliage has fallen, standing out against the exfoliating bark.
