Philodendron 'White Princess' Quart

For those new to indoor gardening, we would caution against diving in with a 'White Princess' philodendron. It is, in a word, a princess, with certain conditions needed to maintain its glorious beauty. A well-lit room (or a grow light) will keep the plant from becoming long and lanky, and will also keep it from fading back to just green. A humidifier may be a worthwhile investment to keep the leaves from browning at the tips, and please keep 'White Princess' away from heater vents and cold windows. See? Such a princess! Watering is the easiest task, as long as you don't overdo it. Water philodendrons thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry. Too much water will rot out the roots, which is true of almost all house plants. Having said all that, we think 'White Princess' philodendron is well worth all the trouble, and a great way to learn about indoor gardening.
