Elliptic-shaped leaves form a dense, creeping mat adorned with pink, three-inch tall flower spikes from mid-summer into the fall.

Product Description

Persicaria affinis, aka Lesser Knotweed or Himalayan bistort, is a mat-forming ground cover that looks its best in wet soil but is also considered drought-tolerant once established. Semi-evergreen in warmer climates, it may die down completely in our Pacific NW winters but then again, it may not. Three-inch tall flower spikes appear from summer into the fall, opening pink but fading to white. Though not invasive, Persicaria will spread if given the room, and will creep over retaining walls and garden stones. It can also be used to cover slopes or under shrubs.
