Narrow green blades form a tousle-haired clump about eight inches tall and eventually 10 inches wide. White flower stalks stand out in the summer, and morph into cobalt-blue berries in the fall. Tolerant of coastal conditions, dry shade, and heavy clay soils (sound familiar, metro-area Portland?), 'Bad Hair Day' Mondo grass is a year-round champ, making it a wonderful addition to garden borders, container planters, and hanging baskets.
