Mentha requienii

While we typically will discourage gardeners from planting mint directly in the ground due to its exuberant growth, Corsican Mint is much more restrained in its growing habits. Up to one inch tall and with a spread of about 12 inches, this fresh, fragrant ground cover does well planted between pavers or as a ground cover in shadier settings. It's also a lovely addition to container planters and hanging baskets, adding that fresh minty scent when bruised slightly. Corsican Mint can withstand moderate foot traffic, and may keep on keeping on in milder winters. Fun fact: this is the plant that creme-de-menthe is made from.
