Lettuce 'Red Romaine' Jumbo Traypack

Red Romaine' lettuce is as delicious as its green counterpart, and is also a show-stopper as an ornamental in hanging baskets, container planters, and in the ground. Individual leaves may be harvested for consumption, taking up to a third of the plant at one time. Growing to about a foot tall and wide, the whole head may be harvested by cutting it off about two inches above the soil. New baby leaves will grow from the stalk, though not as vigorously. Though it handles full sun during the spring and fall, 'Red Romaine' will fair better if it gets shade at the hottest time of day in summer.

Culinary Uses: Fresh as baby greens or mature leaves. Grill or saute as a side dish, use in soups.

Harvest Time: 75 - 85 days. Individual outer leaves may be harvested at any stage, but leave at least half the leaves for regrowth. If harvesting the entire head, cut 2" above ground for regrowth.
