Lettuce 'New Red Fire' Jumbo Traypack

There's nothing more disappointing for lettuce lovers than biting into a mouthful of beautiful greens, only to encounter bitterness. 'New Red Fire' lettuce is praised for its heat tolerance, remaining sweet regardless of the temperature. These loose leaf heads do best in cooler weather - early spring or fall - but will hang in there if given a bit of shade at the hottest time of the day. Harvest individual leaves as desired, leaving at least half the plant to continue growing, or cut the entire head off at ground level. This red-hued lettuce makes a great centerpiece for edible hanging baskets or container planters as well as providing fresh greens.

Culinary Uses: Fresh is best in salads, sandwiches, or as wraps. May also be used in soups!

Harvest Time: Maturity at 30 days. Otherwise, harvest individual outer leaves as needed, leaving at least half the leaves for continuing growth.
