Kalanchoe tomentosa 'Nigra'

The Kalanchoe family covers a vast array of evergreen plants, ranging from those commonly grown for their flowers, to oddities such as Mother-of-Thousands, aka Devil's Backbone. The Panda Plant is a much friendlier looking kalanchoe with velvety gray-green leaves, edged in reddish brown. While it can grow outdoors in the summer, it is too tender to endure even our fall weather, and should be moved indoors when the temps begin to drop. Neither does the Panda plant like being overwatered; its roots will rot out quickly if they sit in too much water. Consider planting this Kalanchoe with other lower growing houseplants, as it can grow quite tall but maintains a narrow profile.
