The more acidic the soil, the bluer the flowers, while the more neutral to alkaline the soil, the pinker the flowers. Emerging on both old and new wood, this variety will rebloom from spring into summer. 'Cape Cod' is a bit faster growing than its cousin, 'Newport,' and is a tad larger in size.
Place mophead hydrangeas where they'll get protection from the hot afternoon sun, or both the blooms and the leaves will burn, no matter how much you water them.
