For indoor gardeners who don't have much time to spend on houseplants, hoyas are often the go-to choice. In fact, these succulent-like plants thrive with a bit of neglect. Overwatering will most surely kill a hoya, but a missed watering or two is absolutely fine. There are so many different varieties of hoya, one could easily fill a planter with them, and they would all bring something different to the party. 'Black Margin' Hoya and Hoya microphylla both have pale rounding veins that stand out against thick, dark green leaves. On the other hand, Hoya crassipetiolata (sorry, no nickname for this one!) has narrow pale green leaves with darker veins that run from a straight central vein out to the edges and barely a curve in sight. Train any of these hoyas up vertical supports or let them cascade over the edges of pots for a lush but low-maintenance look.
