Glazed Terracotta Saucer

When visitors to the nursery opt for a cup of tea (or cookies), we serve it in one of our melamine "pots" along with a glazed terra cotta saucer for teabag removal purposes. While we don't expect our customers to do the same, it just goes to show how leak-proof the glazed saucers are, and uses are limited only by one's imagination. Here are a few suggestions:

*When an indoor plant needs higher humidity, place a glazed saucer filled with pebbles and a bit of water under the pot. That often adds enough moisture to the air to keep plants happy without having to mist them.
*Going to be gone for the weekend and are worried about a plant getting enough water? Place a glazed saucer under the pot and fill it with water. The saucer acts as a small reservoir.
* Make your yard more bee-friendly in the dry months by filling a saucer with pebbles, then adding just enough water to barely reach the top of the pebbles. Bees get water without drowning.
*Not sure what size saucer to get? Generally, you'll choose the same size saucer (4-inch, 6-inch, etc.) as the pot.
