For those just delving into indoor gardening, consider Devil's Ivy, aka Pothos. With an assortment of leaf shapes and coloring, this genus can handle lower light conditions and miss a watering or two with little effect. 'Neon' is an especially vibrant chartreuse green when placed in a well-lit room or under grow lights, and can be trained up a support or left to trail. This plant works well in hanging baskets or in containers placed on a shelf where it can trail. Best to keep the leaves out of reach of furry friends and little people, as ingesting the leaves can cause gastric distress.
