Crassula ovata 'Crosby's Compact

Indoor gardeners have successfully grown jade plants for years, some reaching over three feet tall and wide. For those who lack the space, consider 'Crosby's Compact,' aka Compact Jade Plant or Crosby's Dwarf Jade. This variety may grow to two feet tall and wide at maturity, but that will take time - lots of time. This dwarf version will bloom as do the full-size jade plants, usually in the summer and fall, but also in the winter, covering the plant in sprigs of tiny white flower clusters.

Jade plants do better with benign neglect rather than too much care. That is, give it plenty of indirect light, water thoroughly when the top inch or two of soil is dry, and leave it alone. Jade plants can be moved outdoors during the summer but could get scorched if left in the all-day sun, so consider a slightly shadier spot.
