Coniogramme emeiensis 'Golden Zebra'

It's hard not to ooh and aah over this Striped Bamboo Fern that originates from Mt. Emei in China. Upright arching fronds of gold and green striped leaves form graceful mounds, 18 to 24 inches tall and wide. Though technically hardy down to 5 degrees, this fern may be better served growing in a container planter or hanging basket that can be moved to a sheltered spot in the garden during severe winter weather. A shade-lover outdoors, the Striped Bamboo Fern can become part of an indoor garden as well, given a well-lighted area but no direct sun.
