Coleus 'Dark Star' 4 inch

Unlike many summer annuals, the main attraction of the coleus plant is not its flowers but the color, shape, and texture of the leaves. Coleus 'Dark Star' can add elegance and drama to summer baskets and plantings, growing anywhere from one to three feet tall and almost as wide, given adequate space. Its dark purple to burgundy matte leaves pair well with shade-loving plants such as fuchsias or begonias as well as those better adapted to sunny garden spots. A basket with several varieties of coleus plus trailers such as Creeping Jenny or Sweet Potato Vine makes an eye-catching statement in the summer garden. Don't be afraid to pinch back coleus stems to control the height; side growth will make the plant that much bushier.
