Cistus 'Mickie' 1 Gallon

When gardeners go through the checklist of plant needs, many want evergreens with flowers that are no more than two feet tall. While that narrows the field considerably, 'Mickie' Rockrose may be the perfect, and often overlooked, solution. Bright yellow lance-shaped leaves are splashed with green, forming a low growing mound 12 to 18 inches tall and up to three feet wide. Large but delicate looking white flowers appear in late spring to early summer, each lasting only one day, but long enough to attract bees and butterflies. Rockroses are deer resistant, and some sources even say they are slug and snail-resistant. In the ground, Mickie Rockrose will become drought tolerant once established, making it an excellent choice for xeriscapes, and it is also a good candidate for coastal gardens. We've popped 'Mickie' in hanging baskets for year-round color with excellent results!
