Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Jade Waves'

The common name of this false cypress says it all - graceful, fern-like branches of deep green foliage emerge in curving arches from the main trunk, creating an overall pyramidal form. A slow growing tree that may eventually reach six to eight feet in height and half that in width, 'Jade Waves' is an excellent specimen for large container planters or gardens that need the height but lack the space. This also adds wonderful texture to year-round evergreen baskets or container planters, and can be combined with other evergreens of contrasting color and texture (think nandinas, hebes, or heucheras, to name a few) until it's big enough to be moved out into the garden or its own container.
