Product Description
This Peacock Plant could be mistaken for its Prayer Plant cousins, as they all belong to the same family, and all have a habit of folding their leaves upward at night. However, this calathea has precisely patterned, two-toned leaves that are generally green on top with reddish undersides, and can grow up to two feet tall and wide. The leaves are also larger than a maranta's foliage, averaging 10 to 12 inches long. Native to the Brazilian jungle, the Peacock Plant does best in a well-lit room out of direct sun, and away from air vents. Browning tips or edges on the leaves may indicate too dry an environment. Running a humidifier will solve the problem, or simply place the pot on a pebble-filled saucer with water only half way up. As is true of calatheas, this variety is totally pet-friendly.
