Broccoli 'Spring Blend' Jumbo Traypack

The grower's tag for this "Spring Blend" states a maturity date of 50 to 80 days. While we assume that means the traypack includes different varieties of broccoli (Waltham 29, Di Cicco, or Belstar, to name a few), it could also refer to the fact that after the initial harvest, side shoots produce baby florets for additional harvests. In either case, broccoli lovers can rejoice because you'll have lots of broccoli.
If possible, consider raising your broccoli under row covers for the entire growing season to reduce or avoid bug infestations. Since the plants can grow up to three feet tall, that will mean using supports that can go that high and still cover the entire plant. Since this crop requires no pollination, the row cover will not harm production of edible heads. One more bonus of growing your own broccoli - the leaves are also edible, and can be steamed, sauteed, stir-fried, in fact, any way you enjoy other cruciferous greens.
