When it comes to an Asparagus Fern, nothing is as it seems. Though it resembles a fern, it is in fact, not one, and as fluffy and airy as the fronds seem, beware - there are probably thorns along those stems. This plant can send out incredibly long stems that seem to be reaching for the light, even though it prefers moderate, indirect light indoors, and filtered shade outdoors in the summer. Provide a support so it can climb, let it trail from a hanging basket, or keep it pruned back for a tidier look. It does prefer a higher humidity indoors, so a daily misting will help this plant look its best.
Unlike true ferns, the Asparagus Fern is mildly toxic to pets and little humans if ingested, so please keep out of reach of both.
