Alocasia 'Frydek'

Growing alocasias indoors can be a challenging proposition, especially if indoor gardeners aren't able to provide adequate light and/or humidity. This Green Velvet Alocasia isn't such a daunting prospect, as it stays relatively small and thus is easier to place under a grow light if enough natural light isn't available. The pot can also be put in a pebble-filled saucer with water barely covering the rocks for added humidity. Alocasias go dormant in the winter, so it's sometimes difficult to determine if dying leaves are a result of poor environment or it's just resting. Alocasias should be watered thoroughly only when the top inch of so of soil is dry, especially in the winter.
