This Japanese maple may rival the Coral Bark maple for stunning winter color with its orange-tinged yellow bark. The foliage also goes through a series of color changes from pink young growth in the spring to a deep emerald green in the summer, and golden yellow leaves in the fall.

A relatively new cultivar from Japan, 'Bihou' Japanese Maple has stunning orange-tinged, yellow bark that will light up the fall and winter garden. Similar in stature to the Coral Bark tree, 'Bihou' can reach 20 feet in height with a spread of 15 feet at maturity. It adapts well to container living, but is more likely to reach its full potential when planted in the ground. Springtime foliage emerges with pink shades then gradually takes on more yellow and green tones, turning fully green in the summer. As the temps drop in the fall, leaves take on wonderful golden hues before dropping.
