Product Description
As striking as the summer flower stalks of Bear's Breeches are, it's the leaves that add that "wow" factor to shade gardens. The shiny, deeply lobed leaves can grow up to two feet long and are said to be the inspiration for the Corinthian leaf motif used in ancient Greek and Roman architecture. Mounds of these magnificent leaves can grow three to five feet high with a spread of up to three feet. Given enough sun, tall spikes of creamy white with purple bract flowers emerge during the summer, attracting pollinators and hummingbirds, and are less likely to appear in shadier locations. This hardy perennial spreads by creeping rootstocks, so place root barriers around the plant or grow in large containers if you want to limit its spread.
