As is common with witch's brooms, this Japanese maple is dense and compact, growing slowly to six feet wide and tall, and barely reaching 3 feet at the 10-year mark. Protection from the hot afternoon sun is advisable and regular watering is a must in hot weather. New growth from spring to summer adds spots of color to the predominantly green foliage. Fall is when the spectacular colors emerge for a grand finale before winter descends.
